This course is for those with some previous experience or those who have completed our level one course and wish to take their skills to the next level. As well as refreshing the basics from level one you will go on to learn more advanced skills to allow you to navigate confidently on more demanding terrain in poor weather and off the more defined routes.

You Will Need:

Your usual outdoor equipment i.e. boots, wateproofs, rucksack etc.
Maps of the area (OS Dark Peak 1:25000-1:50000)
Compass

Refresh on level one syllabus
Timing and pacing
Attack points
Micro and Macro navigation
Accurate and appropriate use of the compass
Contour interpretation (aspect of slope, reentrant, spurs, ridges, types of slope etc)
Route planning (route cards, group considerations, weather, measuring height gained and lost etc)
